Angry parents ransack Kolkata school after bullied student dies
மேற்கு வங்க மாநிலம் கொல்கத்தாவில் உள்ள ஒரு பள்ளியில் 6-ம் வகுப்பு படிக்கும் ஓயிண்டிரிலா தாஸ் என்ற மாணவியை சீனியர் மாணவிகள் அடிக்கடி ராகிங் செய்துள்ளனர். கடந்த வாரம் இவ்வாறு அவரை ராகிங் செய்த மாணவிகள், 100 ரூபாய் கேட்டு மிரட்டியுள்ளனர். பணம் கொடுக்க மறுத்ததால், அவரை பள்ளியில் உள்ள கழிவறையில் வைத்து பூட்டியுள்ளனர். பள்ளி நேரம் முடிந்த பிறகுதான் அவரை திறந்து வெளியே விட்டுள்ளனர்.
நீண்ட நேரம் தனி அறையில் சிக்கியதால் கடும் அதிர்ச்சியடைந்த அந்த மாணவியின் உடல் நலம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டது. இதுபற்றி மாணவி தனது பெற்றோரிடம் தெரிவித்தார். உடனே அவரை மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்த்தனர். ஆனால் உடல் அளவில் எந்த பாதிப்பும் இல்லை என்று கூறிய டாக்டர்கள் திங்கட்கிழமை மாணவியை டிஸ்சார்ஜ் செய்தனர்.
ராகிங் அதிர்ச்சியில் இருந்து மீளாத மாணவி, மறுநாள் மருத்துவமனைக்கு அழைத்து செல்லப்பட்டார். அங்கு அவரை பரிசோதனை செய்த டாக்டர், ஊசி போட்டுள்ளார். ஆனால் நேற்று திடீரென இறந்துவிட்டார்.
இதனால் கடும் ஆத்திரமடைந்த மாணவியின் உறவினர்களும், பொதுமக்களும் இன்று பள்ளியை அடித்து நொறுக்கி சூறையாடினர். கம்ப்யூட்டர்கள், பர்னிச்சர்களை உடைத்தனர். மாணவி சாவுக்கு காரணமான பள்ளி நிர்வாகிகள் மீது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று வலியுறுத்தினர்.
இச்சம்பவம் தொடர்பாக மாணவியின் பெற்றோர், போலீசில் புகார் அளித்துள்ளனர். பள்ளியில் நடந்த சம்பவத்தால் அதிர்ச்சியடைந்த தன் மகளுக்கு டாக்டர்களும் முறையான சிகிச்சை அளிக்கவில்லை என்று அவரது தாய் குற்றம் சாட்டினார்.
மாணவி ஓயிண்டிரிலாவை கழிவறையில் வைத்து பூட்டிய மாணவிகள் மீது நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்படும் என்று பள்ளி முதல்வர் உறுதி அளித்துள்ளார்.

The death of an 11-year-old girl allegedly due to trauma after being locked in the bathroom by her seniors sparked angry protests at a Kolkata school where agitated parents kept teachers from leaving the building for hours on Thursday.
The protesters virtually laid siege at the Christ Church school in south Kolkata, not budging even after the police announced that the principal, Sharmila Helen Sarkar, had resigned.
Several parents and other protesters had barged into the school during classes this morning and ransacked the premises, breaking windows, computers and furniture while the principal hid under a table in her room and over a dozen teachers locked themselves in a staff room.
The teachers had to be escorted to a different floor after the protesters wrenched open the windows of their hiding place and threw stones at them. Hundreds of students had left hours ago as a heavy contingent of police came in to control the crisis.
Oindrila Das, a Class 6 student in the school, died on Wednesday, eight days after her seniors allegedly locked her in the bathroom for not coughing up Rs. 100. They were allegedly helped by the school caretaker. Oindrila was let out only when school got over.
She fell ill and refused to go to school after which she was admitted to a nursing home. There, she recounted to the doctors the bullying she had suffered in school. Oindrila’s family says the doctors found nothing physically wrong and released her on Monday.
A doctor gave her an injection on Tuesday, and a day later, when she was taken to hospital, she was declared brought dead.
“She was traumatised in school. That why she fell ill. There is also medical negligence,” her mother Rekha Das alleged. Oindrila’s parents have filed a police complaint against the school.
As protesters today refused to let the staff leave, the school’s principal was escorted by the police to a balcony from where she apologised to a furious crowd.
“I apologise. We will take action against the girls who locked up Oindrilla,” she told them, but the protesters insisted that she must resign.
