குஜராத் மாநிலம் சூரத்தில் இருந்து டெல்லி புறப்பட்ட ஸ்பைஸ் ஜெட் விமானம் எருமை மாட்டின் மீது மோதியதால் பரபரப்பு ஏற்பட்டது. இதனால் விமானத்தின் ஒரு பகுதி சேதமடைந்த நிலையில் அதிருஷ்டவசமாக பயணிகள் காயமின்றி தப்பினர். குஜராத் மாநிலம் சூரத்தில் இருந்து நேற்றிரவு 7.20 மணியளவில் ஸ்பைஸ் ஜெட் நிறுவனத்தின் எஸ்ஜி 622 ரக விமானம் டெல்லி கிளம்ப தயாராகிக் கொண்டிருந்தது. ஓடுதளத்தில் அந்த விமானம் பயணிக்க தொடங்கியபோது திடீரென எருமை மாடு என்று குறுக்கே வந்தது. அந்த மாடு விமானத்தின் பக்கவாட்டில் மோதியது. இந்த சம்பவத்தால் விமானத்தின் பக்கவாட்டு பகுதி கடுமையாக சேதமடைந்தது. இதைப்பார்த்து அதிர்ச்சியடைந்த விமானி, உடனடியாக விமானத்தின் வேகத்தை குறைத்து நிறுத்தி, பார்க்கிங் பகுதிக்கு விமானத்தை கொண்டு சென்று நிறுத்தினார். இச்சம்பவத்தால் விமானத்தில் இருந்த 140 பயணிகள் அச்சமும் பீதியுமும் அடைந்தனர். உடனடியாக, அவர்கள் விமானத்தில் இருந்து இறக்கி வேறு விமானத்தில் டெல்லி அனுப்பி வைக்கப்பட்டனர். சூரத் விமான நிலையத்தில் அவ்வப்போது இதுபோன்ற சம்பவங்கள் நடைபெறுவது வாடிக்கையாகிவிட்டதாக பயணிகள் புகார் தெரிவிக்கின்றனர். அதே நேரம் ஏர்போர்ட் செய்தித்தொடர்பாளர் கூறுகையில், விலங்கு மீது அடிபட்டதாக மட்டுமே தெரிவித்துள்ளார். எனவே எருமை மாட்டுக்கு என்ன ஆயிற்று என்ற தகவல் வெளியே வரவில்லை.

In a shocking security lapse, over 140 passengers of a Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight, SG 662, from Surat had a miraculous escape on Thursday when a stray buffalo ran onto the runway as the aircraft was about to take-off at around 7.25 pm. There was utter confusion between the airport authorities and the SpiceJet pilot as to which stray animal hit. However, sources at the Airport said that it was a stray buffalo and that the impact was very heavy. The aircraft sustained a considerable damage in its body. The pilot immediately stopped the craft midway and drove it in the parking area to check the damage. “A Surat-to-Delhi SpiceJet aircraft, SG-622, carrying around 140 passengers excluding crew members on Thursday hit a buffalo during take-off roll at Surat airport,” airline’s spokesperson Siddharth Kumar said. “All passengers and crew members are safe and will be provided an alternative arrangement soon,” Kumar said. Considering the stray-animal menace, SpiceJet has decided to suspend its services on Surat airport for an indefinite period. “Suspension will be effective as soon as possible,” Kumar said. Official sources said the Delhi-Surat-Delhi flight of SpiceJet arrived at about 6:30 pm on Thursday. The passengers from Delhi to Surat alighted at the airport and the passengers bound to Delhi boarded the flight. It took about an hour for the flight to get on the runway for takeoff to Delhi.
