மதுரை அரசு மருத்துவமனை மகப்பேறு வார்டில், நேற்று காலை 9 மணிக்கு கடத்தப்பட்ட பெண் குழந்தையை, ஐந்து மணி நேரத்தில் போலீசார் மீட்டனர். திருடிய பெண்ணையும், கணவரையும் கைது செய்தனர்.

விருதுநகர் வத்திராயிருப்பைச் சேர்ந்த கருப்பசாமி மனைவி முத்துலட்சுமி,26. இவருக்கு ஏற்கனவே ஒரு பெண் குழந்தை உள்ளது. மதுரை அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் ஜூன் 10ல் இரண்டாவது பெண் குழந்தை பிறந்தது. வலிப்பு நோய் இருந்ததால் வார்டில் சிகிச்சையில் உள்ளார். ராஜபாளையம் சொக்கநாதபுதூரைச் சேர்ந்த விக்னேஷ் மனைவி முத்து, 28. இவருக்கு ஜூன் 10ல் இரட்டை பெண் குழந்தைகள் பிறந்தன. ஒரு குழந்தை நேற்று முன்தினம் இறந்தது. மற்றொரு குழந்தை ஆபத்தான நிலையில், சிசு தீவிர சிகிச்சை பிரிவில் உள்ளது. வார்டில் முத்துலட்சுமிக்கு அருகிலேயே இருப்பதால், இருவரும் தோழிகளாயினர். இந்நிலையில் நேற்று முத்துலட்சுமி, தனது குழந்தையை காணவில்லை என போலீசில் புகார் தெரிவித்தார். வார்டில் உள்ள கண்காணிப்பு கேமராவில் நேற்று காலை 9.33மணிக்கு, விக்னேஷ் தனது மனைவி முத்து, முத்துலட்சுமியின் குழந்தையை எடுத்துச் சென்றது, தெரியவந்தது.

Baby girl was lifted by a couple, CCTV footage reveals theft The maternity wing in Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) witnessed a sordid drama on Friday morning after a 10-day-old baby girl was found missing. The city police who swung into action immediately, traced the baby to K. Pudur in the city by evening, giving the shattered parents relief and joy. Muthu (26) of Watrap in Virudhunagar district delivered a baby in the GRH on June 10. At around 9.30 a.m. on Friday, she had breakfast and went to the corridor to throw the waste. On returning to her bed, she found the child missing, and her husband Karuppasamy immediately lodged a police complaint. After going through the footage recorded by the CCTV camera in the hospital, a special police team found that the baby was lifted by a couple – Vignesh of Chokkanathaputhur near Rajapalayam and his wife, whose name is also Muthu. She had delivered twin baby girls on June 10. One of the babies died immediately after birth. The other baby was weighing only 900 grams, and was put on incubator in the newborn intensive care unit. “Since the baby’s condition was bad, Vignesh and his wife thought that its recovery would be difficult, and lifted the healthy baby of Karuppasamy’s wife Muthu who was on the next bed,” B. Sakthivel, Assistant Commissioner (Law and Order), Anna Nagar, said. First, the police rushed to Chokkanathaputhur, but they did not find the accused there. Then, they traced the couple to their relatives’ house in K. Pudur in the city. By 3.30 p.m., the baby was handed over to the parents. The police arrested Vignesh and Muthu. Based on their confession, the police booked them under Sections 317 (abandoning child) and 363 (kidnap) of the Indian Penal Code. S. Vadivel Murugan, Medical Superintendent, GRH, and T. Uma Devi, Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, said quick response by the police and hospital authorities made the search operation successful.
