A day after wedding, bride’s parents found dead in freak accident
பொள்ளாச்சி அருகே மகளின் திருமணநாளில் பெற்றோர் மரணமடைந்த சம்பவம் சோகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. கோவை மாவட்டம், பொள்ளாச்சியை அடுத்துள்ள ஆத்துப்பொள்ளாச்சியைச் சேர்ந்தவர் இராசு (50). சொந்த நிலத்தில் விவசாயம் செய்துவரும் இவரது மனைவி பெயர் தர்மேஸ்வரி (46). இவர்களது மகள் மோகனசுந்தரிக்கும், பக்கத்து ஊரை சேர்ந்த சபரி என்பவருக்கும் வியாழன்று காலை பொள்ளாச்சியை அடுத்த சமத்தூரில் திருமணம் நடந்தது. சபரி-மோகனசுந்தரியின் திருமணத்திற்கு பிறகு, மணமக்கள் மற்றும் இராசுவும் அவரது குடும்பத்தினரும் ஆத்துப்பொள்ளாச்சிக்கு வந்தனர். புதுமணத்தம்பதியை முதலிரவுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டு இராசு, அவரது மனைவி தர்மேஸ்வரி ஆகியோர் வராண்டாவிலும், மோகனசுந்தரியின் தம்பி மணிகண்டன் மற்றும் தர்மேஸ்வரியின் தாயார் சின்னத்தாய் ஆகியோர் மற்றொரு அறையிலும் படுத்திருந்தனர். கடந்த சில நாட்களாக இரவு பகலாக கண் விழித்திருந்து திருமண வேலைகளை செய்ததால் அனைவருமே நன்றாக தூங்கிவிட்டனர். காலை ஏழுமணியளவில், மணமக்கள் வெளியே வந்துள்ளனர். அப்போது, வராண்டாவில், படுத்திருந்த இராசுவும், தர்மேஸ்வரியும் வாயில் நுரை தள்ளிய நிலையில் இறந்து கிடந்தனர். சின்னத்தாயும், மணிகண்டனும் பக்கத்திலிருந்த இன்னொரு அறையில் மயங்கிய நிலையில் கிடந்தனர். பெற்றோர் இறந்து கிடப்பதைப்பார்த்த மோகனசுந்தரி உடனடியாக அக்கம் பக்கம் இருந்த உறவினர்களுக்கு தகவல் கொடுத்துள்ளார். பின்னர், திருமண வீட்டில் நடந்த இந்த துயர சம்பவம் குறித்து பொள்ளாச்சி தாலுகா போலீசுக்கு தகவல் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. போலீசார் சம்பவ இடத்துக்கு விரைந்து சென்று இராசு, மற்றும் தர்மேஸ்வரி உடலை மீட்டு பொள்ளாச்சி அரசு மருத்துவமணைக்கு உடற்கூறு ஆய்வுக்காக அனுப்பி வைத்தனர். மயங்கி கிடந்த சின்னத்தாய், மணிகண்டன் ஆகியோரை பக்கத்திலிருந்த உறவினர்கள் தூக்கிக்கொண்டு போய் பொள்ளாச்சியில் உள்ள தனியார் ஆஸ்பத்திரியில் சிகிச்சைக்காக சேர்த்தனர். பின்னர், அவர்கள் மேல் சிகிச்சைக்காக சின்னத்தாய் கோவை அரசு ஆஸ்பத்திரியிலும், மணிகண்டன் கோவையில் உள்ள தனியார் ஆஸ்பத்திரியிலும் சேர்க்கப்பட்டனர். அங்கு அவர்களுக்கு தீவிர சிகிச்சை அளிக்கப்படுகிறது. இராசு, தர்மேஸ்வரி வாயில் நுரை தள்ளியபடி கிடந்ததால் அவர்கள் விஷம் குடித்திருக்கலாம் என்று முதலில் போலீசார் சந்தேகித்தனர், ஆனால், புதிதாக கட்டப்பட்டுள்ள அந்த வீட்டுக்கு இன்னும் மின் இணைப்பு கொடுக்கப்படவில்லை. அதனால், இராசு ஜெனரெட்டாரை இயக்கி அதன் மூலம் மின்சாரம் எடுத்து வந்தனர். இந்த ஜெனரேட்டர் இராசு-தர்மேஸ்வரியின் இருவரும் படுத்திருந்த அறையின் உள்ளே வைக்கபட்டிருந்தது. மூடிய நிலையில் அந்த அறையிலிருந்த அனைத்து ஆக்சிஜனும் தீர்ந்து போனதால் இராசு-தர்மேஸ்வரி இருவருக்கும் மூச்சு திணறல் ஏற்ப்பட்டு மரணமடைந்துள்ளனர். இருப்பினும், இருவரின் உடற்கூறு ஆய்வின் முடிவு வந்த பின்னார் தான் இதை உறுதி செய்ய முடியும் என்று போலீசார் கருத்து தெரிவித்தனர். மகளின் திருமணத்தன்று பெற்றோர் உயிரிழந்தது அந்த பகுதியில் பெரும் சோகத்தை ஏற்படுத்தி உள்ளது.

In a freak tragedy, the parents of a newly married woman were found dead in their residence a day after the wedding on Thursday morning. They had reportedly died of asphyxiation after inhaling the fumes from a generator operated inside the small house on the occasion of the marriage night near Athupollachi in Pollachi. Two others, a 60 year old woman and the 18-year-old brother of the bride have been referred to hospitals in Coimbatore after they were found struggling for breath, inhaling the toxic gas in their room. Initially, it was suspected to be a case of food poisoning but police have ruled it out citing that the married couple and a couple of other relatives had also consumed the same food served on Wednesday night but were not affected.
“The family had installed a generator inside the new house which was constructed ahead of their daughter’s marriage. They were yet to receive power connection and switched on the generator which was being operated with kerosene at night and went to sleep unaware of the poisonous smoke,” said M Mahendiran, inspector, Pollachi Taluk police station.
According to police, the deceased couple were identified as Rasagounder (58) and Dharmeshwari (49) whose daughter Mohanasundari got married to Sabariraj at Pollachi on Wednesday. The couple were taken to their new house constructed in the middle of an agriculture field owned by the family. After having dinner Mohanasundari and Sabariraj were taken to their rooms as per the marriage rituals. The family members also poured kerosene and switched on the generator which was particularly taken on rent ahead for the marriage. Police claimed that it was a small house and there was no proper ventilation which may be the main reason for the mishap.
“When the couple woke up and opened the door they found Rasagounder and Dharmeswari lying dead after inhaling the fumes. They also found Chinnathai, their grandmother and Manikandan, the bride’s younger brother struggling for breath in the adjacent room,” Mahendiran added.
They raised an alarm and rushed all of them to a local hospital but the elderly couple had already breathed their last. Manikandan and Chinnathai were rushed to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and a private hospital here in Coimbatore for treatment. Pollachi Taluk police have registered a case.
