Fisherman kidnapped by North Korea flees after 40 years
கடத்தப்பட்ட 41 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு நபர் தென் கொரியாவை சேர்ந்த ஒருவர் தாயகம் திரும்பியுள்ளார். தென் கொரியாவை சேர்ந்த ஜீயான் வோக்-பியோ என்பவர் கடந்த 1972ம் ஆண்டு 25 பேருடன் படகில் சென்று கொண்டிருந்தார். அப்போது வட கொரியாவுக்கு கடத்தப்பட்டார். இதன்பின்பு இவரைப் பற்றி எவ்வித தகவலும் இல்லாததால், நிலை என்னவென்று தெரியாமல் உறவினர்கள் தவித்தனர். இந்நிலையில் 41 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு பிறகு தற்போது சொந்த ஊருக்கு திரும்பி உள்ளார். தற்போது இவருக்கு 68 வயதாகிறது, இவரை பார்த்த உறவினர்கள் ஆனந்த கண்ணீர் வடித்தனர். இதனையடுத்து இவரிடம் அதிகாரிகள் விசாரணை நடத்தினர். ஆனால் எவ்வித விவரமும் வெளியிடப்படவில்லை.

A South Korean fisherman kidnapped by the North Korean navy has reportedly escaped after 40 years in captivity. Jeon Wook-pyo, 68, was fishing near the Yellow Sea when he was captured along with 25 others on Dec. 28, 1972. He is believed to be the only one of the crew who has managed to flee back to South Korea. It is unknown how Wook-pyo managed to escape the regime known for its harsh labour camps. In a letter he wrote to South Korean President Park Geun-hye in a plea for help he had “a growing wish to spend the rest of my life with my relatives and brothers at home,” Yonhap reports. The South Korean government granted him permission to return to Seoul. But Wook-pyo must first undergo questioning by South Korean security officials before he is allowed to return to his family.
