Tamil nadu tourism new policy
சென்னை 26 ஏப்ரல் 2013: தமிழ்நாடு 2011 ல் 14 கோடி சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் வந்ததாகவும் (13.67 கோடி உள்நாட்டு பயணிகள் மற்றும் 33 லட்சம் வெளிநாட்டு பயணிகள்). 2012ல் மொத்தம் 18.76 கோடி சுற்றுலா பயணிகள் வந்ததாகவும் (உள்நாட்டு பயணிகள் 18.41 கோடி மற்றும் 35 லட்சம் வெளிநாட்டு பயணிகள்) ஆக சுற்றுலா பயணிகளின் சதவீதம் 34 வளர்ச்சி கண்டது.
தமிழ்நாடு அரசு புதிய சுற்றுலா கொள்கைகள் உருவாக்கி ஆசிய மேம்பட்டு வங்கியின் {Asian Development Bank (ADB)} உதவியுடன் சுமார் ருபாய் 500கோடியில் சுற்றுலா வளர்ச்சியை மேம்படுத்த திட்டமிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.
இந்த புதிய சுற்றுலா கொள்கை அதிகமாக பணம் செலவழிக்கும் பயணிகளை கவரவும், சுற்றுலா மற்றும் விருந்தோம்பல் துறைகளில் முதலீட்டாளர்களை கவரவும் திட்டம் வகுத்து அதன் மூலம் உள்ளூர் மக்களுக்கு வேலைவாய்ப்பை பெருக்க உறுதி செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளதாக தமிழக சுற்றுலா துறை அமைச்சர் திரு.செந்தூர் பாண்டியன் தெரிவித்தார்.

Tamil Nadu sees 34% growth in tourist arrivals. The state is formulating new tourism policy besides developing Rs 500-cr project with assistance of ADB. Tamil Nadu witnessed a growth of 34 per cent in tourist arrivals during 2012 to 187.6 million (184.1 million domestic and 3.5 million foreign) from 140 million (136.7 million domestic and 3.3 million foreign) in 2011.
“A new tourism policy is being formulated, which aims to attract more high spending tourists and investment in tourism and hospitality related infrastructure. The policy will also ensure employment for skilled and unskilled persons, besides inclusive development for the local people,” said P Chendur Pandian, state tourism minister.
To boost the sector’s prospects, the state is formulating a new tourism policy besides developing a Rs 500- crore project with the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
